Creating my reality...

Ok so today was a breakthrough  for me….I stepped into my power in a new and exciting way.

I developed my work culture to my own standards of excellence. My coach and my sister have been showing me that I was not getting certain things about running a business….i was hearing comments like:

I don’t see you running your business I see you running your life

I don’t think you are ready to do Colortones yet

You need to be in the vision thinking part of you business not the doing

Trust your team they will do it. You just have to learn to delegate to them

What is your job description? If you don’t know what a CEO does then how will they?

And more stuff that hit me right in the gut…

So I was mulling quite a bit over the last few days, and doing my best to let things percolate, when suddenly the coffee, with its enticing aroma and deep rich strong flavour,  was done.

I became acutely aware of what I needed to do, and that was, take charge!

Sounds so simple and I resisted it for such a long time, but today I stepped right into it just as if the it were a pair of high heel shoes… And yes I was wobbly in them, but also sexy as fuck,,,,and I loved the way I looked and felt.

I won’t go into the details too too much here but basically every one got a five page pamphlet detailing their own job description, their co workers job description, and my job description.

I realized as I crafted my JD that I was one hundred percent worthy of the money I made and they were worthy of theirs.

Then I shared with them out Mission statement Our Mission Statement:

Our company will continually produce the highest quality, most exotic and exquisite jewelry that lives up to, and excels the expectations of our motto…”Jewelry that makes you and the world a more beautiful place to be.

We will always enlighten people about sea turtles, seek to kindle a fire in their hearts and minds to do what they can do to help sea turtles too. We will commit at least 10 percent of all of our profits to ocean recovery projects world wide.

And we will do our best to make sure that each and every customer enjoys their unique piece of art as something that makes them feel  beautiful and connected to not only their inner beauty but to the beauty of the earth and sea.

Next we went over the intrinsic values of our company,

and then we went over the five key behaviors.

What I loved was how easily it all flowed for me. I was genuine, and authentic and very sweet and nice as that, that is my authentic self, however when power was being questioned I made sure to let every one know who the Dom was.

What I also love is that I am catching myself saying “Oh would you mind doing xyz?”…and now I am saying “Thank you for doing xyz and having every faith it will be done.” Very different mind set.

Other highlights:

K2 being so impressed it surprised her

Coach k saying Congratulations!  I knew you could do it.  Now build a team of strong leaders. And sharing with me this quote:

"If you oversee people and you wish to develop leaders, you are responsible to:
1- appreciate them for who they are, 2- believe that they will do their very best, 3- praise their accomplishments, 4- accept your personal responsibility to them as their leader.  Great leaders know that acquiring and keeping good people is a leader's most important task.". - John Maxwell, Developing the Leaders Around You

And Sir saying Hazah, That is great Go You!

Yep I did good, and it feels great. It always feels good when you step into your power, and especially when you do it the right way, authentically and from the place of accepting your greatness.

A CEO’s responsibilities: everything, especially in a startup. The CEO is responsible for the success or failure of the company. Operations, marketing, strategy, financing, creation of company culture, human resources, hiring, firing, compliance with safety regulations, sales, PR, etc.—it all falls on the CEO’s shoulders..

Creating culture, building the senior management team, financing road shows, and, indeed, the delegation itself can be done only by the CEO.

What is the CEO’s main duty? Setting strategy and vision. The senior management team can help develop strategy. Investors can approve a business plan. But the CEO ultimately sets the direction. Which markets will the company enter? Against which competitors? With what product lines? How will the company differentiate itself? The CEO decides, sets budgets, forms partnerships, and hires a team to steer the company accordingly.

The CEO’s second duty is building culture. Work gets done through people, and people are profoundly affected by culture. A lousy place to work can drive away high performers. After all, they have their pick of places to work. And a great place to work can attract and retain the very best.

Culture is built in dozens of ways, and the CEO sets the tone. Her every action—or inaction—sends cultural messages. Clothes send signals about how formal the workplace is. Who she talks to signals who is and isn’t important. How she treats mistakes (feedback or failure?) sends signals about risk-taking. Who she fires, what she puts up with, and what she rewards shape the culture powerfully.

Team-building is the CEO’s #3 duty. The CEO hires, fires, and leads the senior management team. They, in turn, hire, fire, and lead the rest of the organization.

The CEO must be able to hire and fire non-performers. She must resolve differences between senior team members, and keep them working together in a common direction. She sets direction by communicating the strategy and vision of where the company is going. Strategy sets a direction. With clear direction, the team can rally together and make it happen.

If vision is where the company is going, values tell how the company gets there. Values outline acceptable behavior. The CEO conveys values through actions and reactions to others. Slipping a ship schedule to meet quality levels sends a message of valuing quality. Not over-celebrating a team’s heroic recovery when they could have avoided a problem altogether sends a message about prevention versus damage control. People take their cues about interpersonal values—trust, honesty, openness—from CEO’s actions as well.

Capital allocation is the CEO’s #4 duty. The CEO sets budgets within the firm. She funds projects which support the strategy, and ramps down projects which lose money or don’t support the strategyType your cut contents here.

Go You! indeed. "Stepping into your power" is such a great way to put it. You weren't exploring or questioning if you HAD power, you simply stepped into it - after doing the prep work. Had you not done those bits, it would have been more difficult to stay there. I'm very impressed :)

And now I want to know what the jewelry looks like. I'm an earring slut - anything for me?
thank you, it felt like a big leap to be honest, but the net was there....*vbs*...so how are you?

yes i have delicious earings...all stones from garnet to sapphires, lets start with you favorite colors...

also i am confused on LJ cuts, the cuts showed up but you cant see the read more option...
LJ is confusing sometimes. I didn't see the cuts the first time I read this, but did find them the second time, so something worked :) You put a lot of care into the info in your pamphlet, and it's all well thought out.

As for the earrings ... hmmm. Well,I like colors :) I have garnets and wear them, but less than I used to. I adore blue topaz and pink tourmaline and usually wear silver rather than gold. This month, anyway.
